Day 697

Its been a very very eventful week. The Diwali celebrations at office, the metallica concert at bangalore, a nice movie in a theatre and a kind of feel good factor for some time. Given below are the diwali decorations that were done by all the office staff. Never seen such a colorful office in my 12 odd years of working.

Last friday was very eventful with most of the staff busy in decoration of the floor, the rangoli and majorly having a ball. In the evening, all of us went for a nice dinner and had a great time.
I had taken off during the weekend and monday because the Gods of Heavy Metal - Metallica - were performing at Bangalore and there was no way i was going to miss this, probably, once in a lifetime concert. There were lot of hiccups because the gig at Gurgaon on Friday was rescheduled for Saturday and then cancelled. The organisers were at fault, majorly for not having built proper secured arrangements at the stadium and also because NCR has this dubious reputation of being crooks in all deals. People were tensed whether the bangalore concert would happen or not, but thankfully it did. For the 2nd time in my life, i packed my bags on my own. And for the 2nd time, there was a packing disaster. I forgot to pack my metallica tshirt and in a hurry just packed 1 tshirt for 2 nights of stay. Fortunately, the fat guy(with all his motherly instincts) lent me one to wear for the concert. After a real bumpy plane ride, we landed in bangalore. The weather, for a lack of better word, was awesome. And with occasional little rainfalls, it was the perfect nice and cool weather. We stayed at the Jaymahal Heritage Hotel which was 2 km away from the grounds and far from the madding crowd. Awesome hotel situated over a large area of land and complemented the bangalore surroundings with Greenery all around. We woke at ease on sunday and reached the palace grounds by around 12:30 PM. Needless to say, it was late. The gates were going to open at 3 PM and over 3000 people were waiting, some of them were standing since 7 and 8 am. By the time we entered the grounds, it was 4 pm. By the time, Metallica came, it was 8 PM. The crowd was super tired waiting but such is the aura of Metallica that throughout the 2 hrs and 15 minutes of non stop performing, everyone was headbanging and super pepped up. This was, by far, one of the best music concerts i have ever attended and worth all of the Rs 2750 that was spent on the concert ticket. I was almost in tears when they left because i sure wished they had performed for an hour more. By the time, we came out weary, it was 11:00. We rested for a while and then headed to the Le Meridian hotel where we met a few friends from our ex office and had a nice late late lunch. We reached our hotel only by around 3 AM. We were dead tired but nothing stopped the fat guy from cracking his one liners and singing some atrocious ad jingle from DD days. We woke up at ease on Monday morning, had late lunch and left for Bombay. It was the best weekend i had spent in a long long long time. I was very very low but those 2 nights and the metallica concert, somehow bought unconditional happiness that i had not got for, maybe over 2 and a half years.

I have uploaded some of the pics from the concert on facebook.

The week at work was usual. We had quite a lot of work pending due to the festive mood of last week so had quite a task finishing it, but fortunately most of it has been done by this weekend. Also managed to see 4 movies. The Whistleblower(2010) - Nice Pic. The Rum Diary - A typical Johnny Depp movie. Not a love story - Ramgopal varma's experiment but weak screenplay and shoddy camera work. And the tower heist - Good few laughs but Eddie Murphy needs to quit being in movies now. Met up with The Fat Guy and Avatar Baba in the evening. We went to the usual Blend N Brew and this time Fat Guy was cracking new one liners and for a change, Avatar Baba and me were trying, and at times succeeding, in taking his case. So in a nutshell, the last couple of weeks have been as eventful as they can get. Diwali, Sweets, Awesome food, music concerts, movies, highs, lows and so many other things. Yes, i did miss my loved ones. The ones who are no more and the ones who are there but have drifted apart. Diwali, will never be the same, but thanks to the 2 musketeers and my best friend, i am happy that you never let me miss the presence of the people i miss so much. Guys, You mean the world to me..

I will dedicate this lovely poem for my beloved...wish i could forget her...but bechara...dil kya karey

it is at moments after i have dreamed
of the rare entertainment of your eyes,
when (being fool to fancy) i have deemed

with your peculiar mouth my heart made wise;
at moments when the glassy darkness holds

the genuine apparition of your smile
(it was through tears always)and silence moulds
such strangeness as was mine a little while;

moments when my once more illustrious arms
are filled with fascination, when my breast
wears the intolerant brightness of your charms:

one pierced moment whiter than the rest

-turning from the tremendous lie of sleep
i watch the roses of the day grow deep.
