Day 248

This is indeed India! The land of dreams and romance, of fabulous wealth and fabulous poverty, of splendour and rags, of palaces and hovels, of famine and pestilence, of genii and giants and Aladdin lamps, of tigers and elephants, the cobra and the jungle, the country of hundred nations and a hundred tongues, of a thousand religions and two million gods, cradle of the human race, birthplace of human speech, mother of history, grandmother of legend, great-grandmother of traditions, whose yesterday's bear date with the modering antiquities for the rest of nations-the one sole country under the sun that is endowed with an imperishable interest for alien prince and alien peasant, for lettered and ignorant, wise and fool, rich and poor, bond and free, the one land that all men desire to see, and having seen once, by even a glimpse, would not give that glimpse for the shows of all the rest of the world combined -- So said Mark Twain. Famous humorist and novelist.
Over the years, India has grown in leaps and bounds, whether in GDP, exports, imports, armed forces and just about anything you can think of.
Let us rewind back to 1947. 15th August. I wouldnt say India got freedom. I would say India, got united. 178 different princely states, along with the other non princely states came together to form 1 big country called India. If the Poms would have been there, India would be 1 country + 178 other small countries. And i am not even counting the princely states that merged with Pakistan.
The country has developed so much. From a life expectancy rate of 30 odd years, it has now increased to nearly 60. We have the largest number of Doctors and Engineers in the world. 6.3% of the world's purchases are done by Indians. Even now 70% of the economy is through Agriculture, making India, the world's largest Agricultural economy. We are the world's second highest IT and IT products exporters. The largest, believe it or not, is Ireland. We have the most BPOs, KPOs, Garment Producing Units, Diamond Processing Units and so on and so forth. I could go on and on writing and praising the country. But sadly, despite all this, as people we have a lot to learn, Do you know why a country, so small as England, colonised, practically half the world in the 20th Century ? It was because of excellent management techniques. You could have weapons, manpower, knowledge, resources and infrastructures which would be second to none. But you cant do anything without management skills. Which, even now, Indians dont have. The day an Indian will become a good and an Ideal manager, is the day we can truly say, we are a super power. Till then, we will just be a land of Snake Charmers and monkeys.
Enough said about that. After the ordeals of last night, i woke up at 11. Didnt do much. Watched Goodfellas, Brothers (2009) and The Expendables. All 3 amazing movies. The Expendables is  a must watch for anyone who is a fan of Vintage action flicks of the 1980s and 1990s. I even slept for sometime in the evening and was feeling absolutely refreshed to watch the movie. Had a nice and healthy dinner of Subway Sandwiches. Its almost 2:06 AM. In a while i will go my den and sleep till noon. Want to relax as much as i can on Sunday. Week 33 at work promises to be mayhem as usual.
Good night everyone.
